Argentinean bandoneonist/composer Daniel Binelli and Uruguayan-American pianist Polly Ferman will perform Tango in the Heights on Friday, November 16 ? 7:00 PM at Our Saviour?s Atonement Lutheran Church, 178 Bennett Avenue in Manhattan?s Washington Heights. This is presented by Pan-American Musical Art Research (PAMAR) and Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance as part of the 7th Annual Latin American Cultural Week (LACW). Mr. Binelli, Ms. Ferman and a group of tango dancers will present a program featuring the music of Astor Piazzolla, as well as compositions by Daniel Binelli and other tango masters. Binelli and Ferman have united their talents to develop and further the appreciation of the tango, milonga, candombe, and other Latin American musical forms in the rarely heard partnership of the bandone?n and piano. The evening will also feature a tango dance lesson. Suggested donation for the November 16 program is $15. Daniel Binelli is an internationally renowned master of the bandoneon, acclaimed as the foremost exponent and torchbearer of the music of Astor Piazzolla. As a composer, many international orchestras, ensembles, Tango companies and soloists have commissioned and/or performed his works, including the Zurich Symphony, Edmonton Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, Colorado Music Festival, Montevideo Philharmonic, Colombia Symphony, and Buglisi/Foreman Dance Company as well as Osvaldo Pugliese Orquesta Tipica (Argentina) and Tango 7 (Switzerland).
